Happy New Year Columbia!

Happy New Year!

My son and I went to downtown Columbia last night to ring in the new year. We had a gathering with some friends at our house earlier in the evening and decided to drive down there at about 11:15 PM. The announcer said that it was a much smaller crowd until about an hour or so before midnight. I’ll have to wait to hear if there was a crowd estimate but a lot of you showed up!

If you didn’t make it out last night, check out this video of the Mule Drop and fireworks from the roof of the courthouse.

In case you didn’t know, the downtown Columbia New Year’s event is sponsored by The Center of Hope, which provides comprehensive support to those affected by domestic and sexual violence and helps with community awareness and education on these issues. Learn more about Center of Hope here.

If you’re like me, you sit alone in an office staring at a computer all day. I like going to community events like these because I get to mix it up with my neighbors from all walks of life. It was fun being with you last night, Columbia :).
