GM Announces $275 Million Investment in Spring Hill Operations

General Motors is making another major investment in its Spring Hill manufacturing campus, committing a combined $275 million toward future vehicle production and continued engine manufacturing in Middle Tennessee.

The largest portion of the investment - $150 million - will go toward preparing Spring Hill Assembly for production of a future Cadillac vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine. While the automaker has not released details about the model or a production timeline, the addition will expand the plant into a five-vehicle operation.

Spring Hill Assembly already produces several Cadillac models and is scheduled to add Chevrolet Blazer production in the coming years, further strengthening the facility's role within GM's North American manufacturing network.

Another $125 million will be directed toward the propulsion plant in Spring Hill to support the company's 2.7-liter turbo engine program. The funding will be used to refurbish equipment, modernize operations and continue production of an engine that powers several Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks, including the Silverado, Sierra, Colorado and Canyon.

Company leaders described the announcement as more than a single vehicle launch or engine project, pointing instead to Spring Hill's growing importance as a flexible manufacturing site capable of adapting to changing market demand and future product plans.

The latest investment adds to a series of major commitments GM has made in Spring Hill in recent years. In 2020, the company announced a $2 billion investment in the assembly plant, followed by a $2.3 billion battery plant investment with LG Energy Solution in 2021.

GM says it plans to spend approximately $9 billion across its U.S. manufacturing operations in 2026, along with more than $7 billion in research and development efforts aimed at supporting future products and technology.

This announcement signals continued confidence in the local workforce and the long-term future of GM's Spring Hill manufacturing complex.

Playhouse Raffle Helps Support Children in Foster Care

This year’s CASA playhouse on display at CPWS

Each year CASA of Maury County does a Playhouse Raffle to help advocate for foster children in Maury County. This has been a staple in the community for many years and represents permanency for children since there is "NO PLACE LIKE HOME."

You may have seen the CASA TriStar Bank Playhouse in the Mule Day Parade or displayed in Columbia this Spring. The Playhouse Giveaway will take place during First Friday on July 3rd.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) changes a child's story. In 2025, CASA volunteers advocated for over 100 abused and neglected children and unfortunately, there will be more as the work continues each day.

What are the raffle funds used for?

CASA Advocates participate in over 30 hours of training, have extensive background/reference checks, and are sworn in by the Juvenile Court Judge. Through the court appointment and their confidential work, the CASA advocate begins visits with the child to begin growing that relationship, conduct interviews, attend meetings, and reviews ALL records to prepare court reports to be heard at each hearing. The CASA is a vital set of “eyes and ears” for each child they represent, and the “arms and legs” of an exhausted child welfare system.
