The Historic Kissing House Joins Forces With Loose Wheels & Babylon Beer Garden

One of Spring Hill's most recognizable historic homes is about to begin a new chapter, and it will feature a familiar local favorite making a major move.
After nearly seven years serving customers from its popular food truck, LooseWheels Squashed Burgers announced it is opening its first brick-and-mortar restaurant inside the historic Kissing House on McLemore Avenue. Joining it will be Babylon Beer Garden, creating a new destination that blends local food, live music, history and community under one roof.
LooseWheels owner, Marcus Malone, called the move "a dream years in the making," saying the restaurant will offer much more than fans have come to expect from the food truck. In addition to its handcrafted squashed burgers, the expanded menu will feature classic diner sandwiches, homemade soups and salads, smoked jumbo wings, Hot Honey Pimento Cheese Fritters (called "Lug Nuts"), and plenty of new creations.
The new location will also include indoor and outdoor seating, live original music, and Babylon Beer Garden, which will serve a wide selection of beverages every Friday and Saturday.
The owners say they aren't just opening a restaurant - they're creating a place where people can gather with friends, celebrate special occasions, slow down for a while and feel at home.
If you're not familiar with the history of the Kissing House, the nearly 150-year-old home is one of Spring Hill's most recognizable landmarks and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Carpenter Gothic-style home earned its unusual name from a well-known local story dating back to the late 1800s.
According to the home's history, Sarah Odil discovered that the man she was engaged to had secretly married another woman. She successfully sued him in one of Tennessee's earliest breach-of-promise-to-marry cases and used the settlement to purchase the home. The story later inspired the play The House That Kisses Bought, and the property has been known as the Kissing House ever since.
The businesses say they'll be sharing menu previews, behind-the-scenes updates and more information over the coming weeks as they prepare to open what they hope will become one of Spring Hill's newest gathering places.
Ultium Cells Adds New Battery Production Line
Ultium Cells in Spring Hill has started producing a new type of battery designed for energy storage systems, expanding beyond its electric vehicle battery production.
The facility, a joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution, converted part of its production line in less than five months to manufacture lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells. These batteries will be used in large-scale energy storage systems that help store electricity until it's needed, improving the reliability and efficiency of the power grid.
Company leaders say the move positions the Spring Hill plant for future growth as demand for energy storage continues to increase. As production ramps up, all employees have returned to work, supporting the plant's expanded operations.
This marks another milestone for one of Maury County's largest manufacturing facilities as it continues to grow its role in the nation's battery industry.
