Maury County Sheriff's Office Announces Major Drug Bust
From Maury County Sheriff’s Department’s post…
After a two-month investigation, the Maury County Sheriff's Office Vice & Narcotics Unit executed search warrants on July 10, bringing a significant drug trafficking investigation to a successful conclusion.
As a result of the investigation, deputies seized:
• More than 2,000 pills, including approximately 1,500 suspected fentanyl or fentanyl-laced pills
• Nearly $58,000 in U.S. currency
• Multiple firearms
• A GMC truck
• Quantities of cocaine and other illegal narcotics
This investigation was conducted with the invaluable assistance of Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Cybercrime and Digital Evidence Unit (CDEU). We extend our sincere appreciation for their expertise and partnership in helping remove dangerous drugs from our community and protecting the citizens of Maury County.
The Maury County Sheriff's Office remains committed to aggressively pursuing those who traffic illegal narcotics and threaten the safety of our communities. We thank our deputies, investigators, and law enforcement partners for their dedication and continued efforts to keep Maury County safe.
Tennessee Dedicates New Archaeological State Park
Tennessee has officially added a new state park dedicated to preserving the state's rich history. Cardwell Mountain State Archaeological Park, located in Warren County near McMinnville, protects 534 acres containing evidence of Native American life dating back more than 5,000 years, including a 15-foot earthen monument built about 1,000 years ago.
The future park will feature a visitor center, educational exhibits and hiking trails highlighting the area's archaeological significance, as well as the history of the Cardwell family, who lived on the mountain for 150 years. The park is currently closed while construction and preservation work take place and will open to the public once facilities are complete.
Cardwell Mountain becomes the third archaeological park in the Tennessee State Parks system and is one of 14 new state parks established during Gov. Bill Lee's administration.
