Columbia Honors First Responders and Future Soldiers at City Council Meeting

From City of Columbia’s post…

The City of Columbia was proud to recognize and celebrate the outstanding efforts of our local first responders — Police, Fire, Public Works, and CPWS — at yesterday evening’s City Council meeting.

When Winter Storm Fern impacted our community, these dedicated teams worked around the clock to respond quickly, maintain essential services, clear roadways, restore utilities, and ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.

Their coordination, professionalism, and commitment to service were on full display throughout the storm and the recovery efforts that followed.

Because of their hard work and teamwork, Columbia was able to bounce back quickly and safely. We are deeply grateful for their tireless efforts and proud to honor the men and women who serve our community every day — and especially in times of need.

The city also honored Columbia’s future soldiers…

At last night’s City Council meeting, the City of Columbia proudly recognized a remarkable group of young men and women who have chosen to answer the call to serve our nation. These Army recruits represent the very best of our community.

Their decision to serve reflects courage, dedication, and a deep commitment to something greater than themselves. By taking this important step, they are not only shaping their own futures but also upholding a proud tradition of service that strengthens our city and our country.

The City of Columbia celebrates their achievements and stands firmly behind them as they begin this journey. We are grateful for their willingness to serve and for the families and mentors who have supported them along the way.

Please join us in congratulating these outstanding individuals and wishing them success as they prepare for basic training and beyond!
