Maury County Crews Respond to Serious House Fire in Culleoka
From Maury County Fire Department’s post…
On February 10, 2026 at 1:35PM the Maury County Fire Department was dispatched to Baptist Church Rd in the Culleoka Community for a reported house fire. Units arrived to find a home heavily involved in fire with home oxygen bottle’s relief valves operating and fueling the fire. One disabled occupant escaped from the home with the assistance of a neighbor and had critical burn injuries. The patient was air lifted via Air Evac to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes of arrival. One firefighter received minor injuries on scene and was evaluated at a medical facility.
We would like to acknowledge the prompt response of an off-duty Maury Regional Paramedic as well as the rest of the Maury Regional EMS team who provided patient care and standby on scene for our personnel.
The cause of the fire is under routine investigation by the Maury County Sheriff’s Department.
Proposed Assisted Living Project Heads to Columbia City Council

Developers are seeking approval to build two assisted living facilities on approximately nine acres off Trotwood Avenue in Columbia.
The proposed Morning Pointe Senior Living project was presented to Columbia City Council earlier this month and is scheduled for a vote on first reading Feb. 12. The property, formerly part of the Rutherford Lane Westfield Park development, has long been designated as a planned unit development (PUD), though no project was ever completed. The current request would revise the existing PUD plan.
Plans call for two buildings totaling 150 beds, including both assisted living and memory care services. The applicant is also requesting 150 parking spaces, which exceeds the 51 spaces typically required under city code based on bed count.
Because the property is zoned as a PUD, it allows for a variety of potential uses. City officials noted that an assisted living facility is likely to generate less traffic than other possible developments such as retail or apartments. City staff indicated the projected traffic volume falls below the threshold that would require a formal traffic impact study.
The Columbia Planning Commission voted Jan. 14 to recommend approval of the revised plan.
Some residents raised concerns during the planning commission meeting about increased traffic along Trotwood Avenue, particularly within the nearby school zone and with additional residential development occurring across the street. City engineering staff stated that the proposed use is not expected to create significant peak-hour traffic.
City Council will consider the proposal on first reading at its Feb. 12 meeting at City Hall.
