*Correction: In the 12/27 issue, we accidentally added a zero to the grant given for the County courthouse… so the total read $5 million instead of $500 thousand! 500K is still a nice chunk of change but that’s an embarrassing thing to miss! 😳 🙄

Maury County Fire Crews Stay Busy Answering Holiday Week Emergencies

Maury County Fire responds to a vehicle extrication call on 12/26. Click to see more photos.

While many families were gathered around the table this Christmas week, Maury County firefighters and other first responders were answering calls across the county, stepping away from their own holiday celebrations to keep others safe. Their steady presence during emergencies is a reminder of the commitment and sacrifice made by those who serve our community year-round.

Below are their reports along with links to photos…

On December 25th members responded to 13 calls across the county which included carbon monoxide/gas leaks, fire alarms, motor vehicle accidents, and several serious medical calls with one requiring an air medical response.

We appreciate the dedication of our members to ensure that even on Christmas Day that emergencies were handled from one end of the county to the other.

On Friday, 12/26, at 04:35am units responded to Terrapin Branch Rd for an MVA with entrapment. Responding units: Engines 22 & 23, Squad 32, Rescue 21, Deputy and Chief 20.

Units arrived to find a vehicle in a shallow creek with one occupant trapped. The roof was flapped and a stokes basket was used to remove the occupant up to the roadway. Maury EMS transported the patient with non-life-threatening injuries.

This was one of 10 calls that we responded to.

On Sunday, 12/28, units responded to 13 calls across Maury County which included a lawnmower fire in Theta and a mutual aid structure fire in Lawrence County.

We are proud to serve Maury County.

Looking for Winter Fun? PopStroke Nashville Is Now Open

Looking for a fun indoor activity during the cold winter months? Tiger Woods’ PopStroke Nashville is now open and is located about 50 minutes from Columbia, offering families and groups a new entertainment option that works in any kind of weather.

The massive golf-themed entertainment complex officially opened Sunday and is the brand’s largest location to date. PopStroke combines mini-golf putting courses with dining, drinks, games, and family-friendly attractions in a space designed for both indoor and outdoor use.

Founded in 2019 in partnership with Tiger Woods and TaylorMade Golf Company, PopStroke has grown to 20 locations across seven states, including Tennessee. The Nashville site features three 18-hole putting courses that span both inside and outside areas, allowing guests to play year-round.

The venue is designed to appeal to all ages. Families with young children can enjoy a playground, arcade-style games such as foosball, cornhole, and ping pong, along with an ice cream parlor offering dozens of flavors, milkshakes, and other treats.

Adults can take advantage of a full-service restaurant and bar, with the option to order drinks by phone and have them delivered directly to the putting greens. The space is also built to accommodate corporate gatherings and private events, with room for small groups or large parties of up to 500 people.

PopStroke Nashville is housed in a warehouse-style building with large garage doors that open to create an indoor-outdoor experience on pleasant days. The bar area features a two-story beer garden with a mix of bar seating, tables, and lounge areas, along with large turf spaces both inside and outside.

The location was first announced in late 2023, with construction beginning earlier this year. The growing Century Farms development and the continued expansion of the greater Nashville area were key factors in selecting the site.

For Maury County residents, the new PopStroke offers a nearby destination for winter fun that blends food, games, and golf-style entertainment under one roof.
