Bodycam Footage Captures Intense Mobile Home Fire in Columbia

Just released bodycam footage from a Monday morning fire gives us a closer look at how our firefighters serve this community.

From Maury County Fire Department’s post

On Monday, 12/15, at 07:28am units were dispatched to Mapleash Avenue for a structure fire. Responding units: Engines 21 & 30, Tankers 21, 22, and 32 and Columbia Fire and Rescue Engine 1, Tanker 1, and Battalion Chief on automatic aid. 

Units arrived to find a mobile home with heavy fire showing and commenced with an offensive attack. The fire was brought under control with no reported civilian injuries. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. The family was displaced by the fire and the home is a total loss. 

Columbia Police Honor Chief Jeremy Alsup at Retirement Ceremony

On December 18, 2025, the Columbia Police Department proudly conducted a Retirement Ceremony honoring Chief Jeremy Alsup for his distinguished career and dedicated service to the City of Columbia.

Chief Alsup began his law enforcement career with the Columbia Police Department as a Reserve Officer in 1997. Over the course of 29 years, he served the department in numerous roles, from Patrolman to Chief of Police, a position he has held since 2020.

During his tenure as Chief, Jeremy Alsup led the department through significant growth and modernization. His accomplishments include the implementation of Crisis Intervention Training for all officers, competitive salary increases, enhancements to the Honor Guard Team, renovations to the Criminal Investigation Division and Annex, a redesigned patrol car decal, construction of a new shooting range, the establishment of the Community Affairs Division, creation of the Drone Team, and the implementation of License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras, among many other initiatives.

Chief Alsup is also a two-time recipient of the Patriotic Employer Award, recognizing his continued support of military employees.

His leadership, vision, and commitment have left a lasting impact on the Columbia Police Department and the community it serves. Chief Alsup will be greatly missed, and we wish him a well-earned and wonderful retirement.
