Tennessee Reports Eight Traffic Fatalities Over Thanksgiving Travel Period

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security reported eight traffic fatalities during the 2025 Thanksgiving travel period, matching the number recorded during the same holiday window last year.

Fatalities occurred across several counties, including McNairy, Shelby, Franklin, Marion, Washington, Wilson, Williamson, and an additional incident in Franklin County.

Throughout the holiday period, Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers responded to 902 motorist assistance calls, covering a range of issues such as disabled vehicles, flat tires, and other roadside needs.

Troopers also handled a significant number of crashes statewide, investigating 566 property damage incidents and 243 crashes that resulted in injuries.

With travel increasing across Tennessee during the holiday weekend, the Department of Safety and Homeland Security noted that troopers maintained heightened enforcement and roadway visibility, with units positioned approximately every 20 miles.
