Officials Release Names of 16 Victims in Bucksnort Explosion

Officials have released the names of the 16 victims killed in last week’s devastating explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems, located on the border of Hickman and Humphreys counties.

The blast, which occurred Friday morning at the Bucksnort-area facility, left the entire community shaken. After initial reports listed 16 people as unaccounted for, authorities confirmed over the weekend that all had perished in the explosion.

During a Monday afternoon briefing, Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis and Hickman County Sheriff Jason Craft read aloud the names of those who lost their lives:

Jason Adams
Eric Anderson
Billy Baker
Adam Boatman
Christopher Clark
Mindy Clifton
James Cook
Reyna Gillahan
Latisha Mays
Jeremy Moore
Melinda Rainey
Melissa Stanford
Trenton Stewart
Rachel Woodall
Steven Wright
Donald Yowell

Sheriff Davis emphasized that the investigation remains active and that officials have not yet determined the cause of the explosion. He also urged the public to be cautious about spreading unverified information online as multiple agencies continue their work.

“We have one shot — one shot,” Davis said. “If this is an accident, we want to prove it to ourselves that this is an accident. If it’s something else, we have that one chance to process the evidence and be methodical.”

As investigators continue to search for answers, the community has come together to grieve and support one another. Vigils have taken place throughout Humphreys and Hickman Counties, and counselors are being made available through Humphreys County Schools to help students and families affected by the tragedy.

Spring Hill’s Former Mayors Reunite for Special Community Forum Nov. 4

Spring Hill’s past leaders will take center stage next month for a unique community event celebrating the city’s history and growth.

On Monday, Nov. 4, the Spring Hill Historical and Genealogical Society will host “Meeting Adjourned: An Evening with Spring Hill’s Former Mayors” at City Hall. The evening begins with a reception at 5 p.m., followed by the main program from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Seven of Spring Hill’s eight living former mayors are scheduled to participate in a panel discussion, reflecting on their time in office and the city’s evolution over the years. The conversation will be moderated by the Society’s 15-year-old president, Benny Jett, alongside vice president Jim Hellier. Audience members will also have the chance to ask questions, with the discussion focused on informative and respectful dialogue.

Among the featured participants are current Mayor Matt Fitterer and Cindy Williams, who will represent her late husband, Mayor Ray Williams, who passed away in 2005 while serving in office. Mrs. Williams will share memories and insights from his time leading the city.
