Big Changes Ahead: Maury County Public Library Announces Major Renovation

Exciting changes are on the way for the Maury County Public Library! Below is an update from Library Director Meghan Cyr with details on what’s coming and how the closure will affect services.

Dear Community Members,

We are thrilled to announce that our library will be undergoing a transformative renovation to better serve you and your family! To make way for these exciting improvements, the library will be temporarily closed beginning October 20th, 2025.

While we know you'll miss having access to our current facility, we're confident that the wait will be worthwhile. We're not just updating our space—we're reimagining what a modern library can be for our community.

What's Coming to Your New Library

Private Study Rooms – Need a quiet space for focused work or exam preparation? Our new private study rooms will provide the perfect environment for concentration and productivity.

Teen Center – A dedicated space designed specifically for our teenage patrons, featuring comfortable seating, collaborative work areas, and resources tailored to young adults.

Learning Classroom – A state-of-the-art classroom space for workshops, tutoring sessions, computer classes, and community education programs.

Demo Kitchen – Discover the joy of cooking! Our demonstration kitchen will host cooking classes, nutrition workshops, and culinary programs for all ages and skill levels.

And Much More! – We’re also adding expanded technology resources, improved accessibility features, and remodeled restrooms.

During the Closure

While our physical location is closed, we remain committed to serving you:

  • Digital resources, e-books, and audiobooks remain available 24/7.

  • Online account access continues uninterrupted.

  • Physical resources can be placed on hold for physical pick up by using the online catalog or by calling the library.

  • If you need to get a library card, please call the library or fill out the application online. If you need to renew a library card, please call the library for renewals.

  • Library programs will continue at off-site locations. Stay tuned to an updated program calendar with updated locations.

  • Mt. Pleasant Public Library will remain open with computer access, printing needs, and physical item lending.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this exciting transition. We’ll keep you updated on our progress and announce our grand reopening date as soon as it’s confirmed.

Thank you for your continued support. We can’t wait to welcome you to your newly renovated library!

Sincerely,
Meghan Cyr

Columbia’s Immersive 101 Program Helps Residents Connect With Local Government

The City of Columbia recently wrapped up the third installment of Columbia 101, an immersive hands-on program that gives residents a unique behind-the-scenes look at how local government operates. Over the span of two engaging days, participants toured key facilities, connected directly with city leaders, and explored the inner workings of all 12 city departments. The experience offered valuable insight into how essential services are delivered and how residents can play an active role in shaping Columbia's future.

One participant stated, "Columbia 101 was an impressive 2 day deep dive into the inner workings of municipal city government and I learned far more than I ever thought I would! The city employees who presented really enjoy their jobs with long tenures in each department and an eagerness to share! I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of people serving its citizens in the city of Columbia."

Columbia 101 is held twice a year in the Spring and Fall, and is open to all residents of Columbia and Maury County. Visit here to find out more about this program.
