Driver Leads Officers on 20-Minute Pursuit Before Capture in Maury County
A multi-county pursuit that began in Williamson County and ended in Maury County has reignited calls for tougher penalties against drivers who flee law enforcement.
The chase began Tuesday morning when officers attempted to stop a pickup truck near Franklin. Instead of pulling over, the driver continued south toward Maury County, where the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Maury County deputies joined the pursuit.
The chase lasted around 20 minutes and traveled along Highway 43 South. Deputies deployed spike strips to slow the vehicle, which caused the truck to lose control and slide into a ditch. Dashcam footage captured officers approaching the vehicle, breaking a window, and removing the driver—later identified as 45-year-old Angela Moore of Nashville—along with a small dog.
Investigators reported finding fentanyl, LSD, crack cocaine, scales, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Moore now faces a long list of charges, including DUI, possession with intent to sell controlled substances, evading arrest, reckless driving, and multiple traffic violations. She is currently being held at the Maury County Jail.
Local officials say cases like this highlight the dangers posed to officers and the public when drivers refuse to stop. Law enforcement leaders across the state continue to push for stricter laws against fleeing suspects, arguing that current penalties do little to deter this risky behavior.
Authorities confirmed the dog was safely reunited with family members after the incident.
Celebrating Columbia’s Sound: Rhythm & Roots with Cord Martin Premieres
Columbia has a sound all its own, and it’s time to tell its story.
Rhythm & Roots with Cord Martin is a new documentary-style music series that celebrates the voices, performances, and stories shaping our city’s music culture. From live performances to behind-the-scenes moments, the series serves as a living archive of Columbia’s sound, honoring its heritage while amplifying its future.
The debut episode features Wayne Orr—a masterful multi-instrumentalist who grew up in Mt. Pleasant and has been a lifelong contributor to Columbia’s rich musical heritage. His story isn’t just part of the city’s soundtrack—it’s foundational to it.
Throughout the episode, Orr reflects on his journey with music and shares wisdom for the next generation of players. His advice is simple but timeless: keep practicing, don’t overdo it, and add your own touches along the way. Those small, signature moments, he says, are what show people who you are as a musician.
The episode closes with a soulful moment as Cord Martin and Wayne Orr play a couple of songs together—a fitting end to a story rooted in tradition and shared through performance.
This new series is more than just entertainment. It’s a testament to the artists who have shaped Columbia’s sound and spirit across generations. Through intimate conversation and music, Rhythm & Roots celebrates a culture where sound is not only heard, but deeply lived.
