Columbia Honors Bulldogs’ Back-to-Back State Championships

Columbia has officially recognized the Columbia Academy Bulldogs baseball team for its remarkable achievement of winning back-to-back Division II-A State Championships, proclaiming August 15 as Columbia Academy Bulldogs Baseball Team Day.
During the City Council’s August 14 meeting, proclamations were presented to the athletes, celebrating their 2024 and 2025 titles. City leaders praised the team for an accomplishment that many considered nearly impossible, noting how the Bulldogs continue to represent the spirit and future of the community with pride.
The 2025 season began with the theme “Take Two” and quickly lived up to it. The Bulldogs opened with 18 straight wins and went on to set a school record with 28 consecutive victories, including an undefeated run at the State Final Four. Their championship season culminated in a 2-0 shutout over Clarksville Academy on May 23 at Middle Tennessee State University.
Coaches and city officials emphasized just how rare this level of success is in high school sports. Winning a single state title is considered difficult, but capturing two in a row — while dominating nearly every game — is an achievement they believe will be remembered for years to come.
The proclamations also highlighted the team’s place in school history: the first Columbia Academy baseball team to reach Murfreesboro in consecutive years and the first to secure back-to-back state championships.
