Firefighters Spend 2 Hours Battling Barn Blaze Possibly Sparked by Lightning
From Maury County Fire Department’s post…
On Saturday at 4:01 PM units responded to a reported barn fire on Dry Creek Rd. Responding units: Engines 21 & 22, Tankers 21 & 26, Brush 22 & 26, Safety 20, Deputy 20. Mount Pleasant Ladder 82 responded on automatic aid.
Units arrived to find a large pole barn with hay bales and other contents on fire. A split lay was performed by Engines 21 & 22 and 1200’ of supply line was laid from the roadway where tankers would supply the attack engine. Units operated for over two hours to extinguish and overhaul the barn.
No injuries were reported and initial indications of a lightning strike possibly caused the fire. Special thanks to Mount Pleasant Fire for their response and hard work throughout the incident.
Columbia Receives Special Census Certification with 17.26% increase since 2020

From City of Columbia, TN - Government’s post…
The State of Tennessee has officially certified the City of Columbia’s Special Census, confirming a new population of 48,885—a 17.26% increase since the 2020 Census.
As a result, the City will receive approximately $1.3 million in additional state funding annually over the next five years to support key areas such as infrastructure, public safety, healthcare, and community development.
Conducting the special census was a reflection of the City’s proactive approach to planning, helping Columbia secure resources for sustainable growth and continued success.
