Flash Flooding Hits Southern Maury County, Roads Temporarily Closed
Heavy rainfall Monday evening caused flash flooding across southern Maury County, leading to road closures and reports of home flooding.
Emergency crews began responding around 6:30 p.m. near Pulaski Highway and Bigbyville Road. The Culleoka and McCains communities were some of the hardest hit, as drainage systems were overwhelmed and roads quickly became impassable.
An area command center was set up at the Dollar General in McCains to coordinate response efforts. Roads in the area were closed for about an hour as crews worked to manage the situation.
Debris, including large rocks and fallen trees, was left behind, creating hazardous conditions on secondary roads. The Maury County Highway Department is actively clearing affected areas, while TDOT has finished clearing state roads. Drivers are urged to use caution.
Officials thanked all emergency responders for their fast action and coordination during the flooding emergency.
Franklin Summer Bash Returns July 12 with American Idol Stars

The 3rd Annual Franklin Summer Bash returns to Liberty Hall at The Factory at Franklin on Saturday, July 12, featuring some of this season’s most popular American Idol finalists. Confirmed performers include Thunderstorm Artis, Mattie Pruitt, Josh King, Kolbi Jordan, Canaan James Hill, Filo, and Drew Ryn. Fan favorite Kayko, from last season, will host and perform as a special guest.
This high-energy summer concert has become a local tradition, spotlighting top American Idol talent and drawing national media attention. VIP packages are available, offering fans meet-and-greet photo ops with artists and exclusive keepsakes.
New this year: all tickets include theater seating, replacing the standing-room-only setup of past events. Organizers recommend buying tickets early, as a sell-out is expected. Tickets are available now at FranklinSummerBash.com.
Past lineups have included standout finalists such as Jack Blocker, Kaibrienne, McKenna Breinholt, Mia Matthews, Quintavious, and The Voice finalist Maddi Jane. The first Franklin Summer Bash in 2023 featured Megan Danielle, Haven Madison, and Tyson Venegas.
“We’re so excited to be bringing Franklin Summer Bash back to the Nashville market for the 3rd year in a row,” said Brian Mayes, CEO of Frankland Events. “This event gets bigger and better every year.”
Tennessee’s Film Scene Grows with New 9-1-1 Series and State Incentives
A new installment of the 9-1-1 franchise, 9-1-1: Nashville, is currently filming in Music City and is set to premiere on WKRN this fall. It joins a growing number of film and TV productions choosing Nashville as a base.
While Tennessee has long attracted filmmakers—thanks to iconic locations like the now-closed Tennessee State Prison—its film industry has seen major growth over the past decade due to expanded state incentives. The Tennessee Entertainment Commission offers grants of up to 25% for qualifying productions, including film, television, animation, and music scoring.
These incentives have helped build a more sustainable entertainment industry in the state. Since 2008, the program has created over 13,000 jobs and brought in nearly $730 million in 2023 alone. Productions are now filming across Tennessee, not just in Nashville, but in places like Franklin, Knoxville, and Memphis.
With momentum building and new productions lining up, Tennessee is quickly solidifying its place as a major hub for the entertainment industry.
