New Details Emerge About Victims and Suspect in Somerset Lane Shooting
In the days following Saturday’s deadly shooting on Somerset Lane, more details have emerged about the victims—and the lives they touched.
John Bidle, 46, worked at the GM plant in Spring Hill and was known among coworkers and neighbors for his mechanical skills and easygoing nature. He and his wife shared a love for classic cars and hands-on projects, having restored a ’68 Mustang together.
Stacie Wright, 51, worked in human resources at Ultium. Friends and neighbors remember her as warm, cheerful, and always willing to lend a hand. Both Bidle and Wright were longtime residents of the neighborhood and deeply rooted in the community.
The suspect in the case, Byron Childers, lived just a few houses away from the victims. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. A third person was injured in the shooting but is expected to recover.
While police have not released information about a possible motive, the impact on the neighborhood has been profound. All of those involved had families, and in the days since the shooting, friends and neighbors have stepped up to offer support in various ways.
Bidle’s union, UAW Local 1853, has launched a fundraiser to help both families during this difficult time. Contributions are being accepted through Venmo and Cash App, with all proceeds going directly to the Bidle and Wright families.
As the investigation continues, loved ones say their focus is on remembering the lives that were lost and supporting one another through the grief.
Heading to BNA by Uber or Lyft? Your Drop-Off Spot Is Moving
Starting today, rideshare drop-offs at Nashville International Airport (BNA) will move to a new location. Travelers using services like Uber and Lyft will no longer be dropped off curbside at the Departures level. Instead, all rideshare drop-offs will take place at the Ground Transportation Center (GTC), located on the ground floor of Terminal Garage 2.
This is the same location where rideshare pickups already occur, and that part of the process will remain unchanged.
The new drop-off lane will run along the far-left sidewalk of the GTC, while the next three lanes will continue to serve rideshare pickups. The two far-right lanes will still be used for airport and hotel shuttles.
Travelers should allow extra time when using rideshare services to reach BNA, as the walk from the GTC to the terminal’s grand lobby takes approximately 10 minutes.
The change is part of the Terminal Access Roadway Improvement (TARI) program, which supports the airport’s broader expansion and modernization plans.
