Spring Hill Leaders Advocate for Water Reclamation in Washington D.C.

Spring Hill Assistant City Administrator Dan Allen joined Mayor Matt Fitterer in Washington, D.C., on Thursday to participate in a congressional briefing focused on water reclamation. The event brought together five industry leaders, including Allen, who emphasized the role of water resources in supporting economic development.
Representatives from major corporations such as Pepsi and Amazon also took part in the briefing. Allen highlighted the importance of a reliable, high-quality water supply to support Spring Hill’s rapid growth and its water-intensive industries, particularly automotive manufacturing. He pointed to water reuse as a strategic way to protect natural resources while supporting industrial and community needs.
During their visit, Allen and Fitterer also met with staff from the offices of U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty. Their discussions centered on advancing water reclamation efforts and securing support for local initiatives.
Spring Hill is currently preparing to launch an Advanced Purification Pilot Project, which received clearance from the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation in August of last year. The project is part of a broader effort to enhance the city's water infrastructure by expanding its wastewater treatment capabilities and constructing a new reservoir.
Construction on the pilot project is expected to begin later this year, marking a significant step toward ensuring a sustainable water future for Spring Hill.
Pet Zebra STILL on the Loose in Rutherford County
WKRN news reports that the escaped pet zebra is STILL on the loose in Rutherford County.
From Rutherford County Sheriff’s post on May 31…
UPDATED POST: The zebra search continues Sunday.
The zebra escaped into a wooded area off Interstate 24 between Joe B. Jackson Parkway and the Epps Mill Road exits Saturday afternoon and could not be located.
Owners obtained the zebra Friday night.
Cpl. Zach Campbell talked to the owners who are still searching for their lost animal.
People who spot the zebra are asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 615-898-7770 to report the location.
ORIGINAL POST: A pet zebra on the loose is wreaking havoc on Interstate 24 near Joe B. Jackson Parkway in Rutherford County, said Patrol Lt. Kenneth Barrett.
Sheriff’s deputies had to close the interstate because the zebra was running through traffic on both sides of the highway.
Westbound lanes are now open.
Eastbound lanes just opened after the zebra disappeared into the woods.
A patrol deputy took this photo of the zebra on the loose Saturday.
