Tennessee Named One of the Top States People Want to Move to in 2025

Tennessee is one of the most sought-after destinations for people planning a move in 2025, according to a new study by U.S. News & World Report. In fact, it ranked among the top three most searched states for relocation in the first quarter of the year.

Six of the top 10 states attracting interest are in the South, with Tennessee standing out for its scenic beauty, culture, and affordability.

The South continues to appeal to movers thanks to a lower cost of living, milder climate, fewer taxes, and a more relaxed pace of life.

"Tennessee is also known for its rich musical heritage, culture, and natural wonders, including the Great Smoky Mountains along the North Carolina border, making it a popular state for outdoor enthusiasts," the study noted.

Top 10 States People Are Researching for Relocation in 2025:

  1. South Carolina

  2. Tennessee

  3. Delaware

  4. North Carolina

  5. Maine

  6. Idaho

  7. West Virginia

  8. Alabama

  9. Arkansas

  10. Mississippi

Within Tennessee, three cities made the list of top searched destinations: Knoxville at No. 11, Franklin at No. 19, and Chattanooga at No. 20. The most-searched city overall was Bluffton, South Carolina.
