Spring Hill Police Department Opens New 60,000-Square-Foot Facility
After nearly two years of construction, Spring Hill’s new police headquarters is complete and preparing to open to the public. The 60,000-square-foot building, located at 800 Hathaway Boulevard, will bring together all divisions of the Spring Hill Police Department under one roof for the first time in over a decade.
Since 2012, the department had operated from multiple locations. Patrol officers, detectives, and leadership had been based out of a leased space, while functions like evidence storage, IT services, and administrative records remained in the basement of City Hall.
The new headquarters is designed to streamline operations and improve service for both officers and residents. It includes purpose-built areas such as a crime scene processing room, a defensive tactics training area, and a decontamination space. A multi-use community room will also serve as the venue for city court.
Advanced technology has been integrated throughout the facility, including a simulator that enables officers to train in a variety of virtual de-escalation scenarios. Additionally, members of the public will be able to access services like fingerprinting and medication disposal at the new site.
An official ribbon-cutting ceremony, hosted by the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for today at 10 a.m.
Mattie Pruitt Saved by Judges, Advances to Top 7 on American Idol
Local fans had plenty to cheer for Monday night as Eagleville teen Mattie Pruitt continued her journey on American Idol. Less than a day after making the Top 8, the 16-year-old was back on stage May 5 performing live in hopes of securing a spot in the next round.
As part of the Judges’ Song Contest, Pruitt was given a selection of three songs: “Always Been You” by Jessie Murph, “I Need You” by LeAnn Rimes, and “Parachute” by Chris Stapleton. After working through her options with mentor Jelly Roll, she ultimately chose the Jessie Murph track—a choice that paid off as it matched the pick of judge Luke Bryan.
Later in the show, Pruitt returned to the stage for a duet with fellow contestant Breanna Nix. The two took on Carrie Underwood’s powerful hit “There Must Be Something in the Water,” earning an emotional response from the judges' panel.
When the live voting window closed and the results were announced, Pruitt landed in the bottom two alongside Josh King. Judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie ultimately chose to save Pruitt, keeping her dream alive for another week.
With her spot in the Top 7 secured, Pruitt will now head to Disneyland with her family for the show’s upcoming Mother’s Day special. The next live episode airs Sunday, May 11.
Mayor Proclaims May 5-9, 2025 as Goodwill Week

From City of Columbia, TN - Government’s post…
The City of Columbia is proud to recognize Goodwill Week, celebrated nationally during the first full week of May, by honoring the incredible work of Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee, Inc. Goodwill is North America's leading nonprofit provider of career services, offering vital opportunities for individuals facing barriers to employment—including people with disabilities, veterans, older workers, young adults, and those re-entering society.
For years, Goodwill has played an essential role in Columbia’s community, providing job training, employment services, and educational programs that empower residents and strengthen our local economy.
Mayor Chaz Molder has officially proclaimed May 5–9, 2025, as Goodwill Week in Columbia, encouraging all citizens to recognize and support Goodwill’s contributions to economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, and social welfare.
