Maury County Regional Airport Breaks Ground on New State-of-the-Art Terminal

A groundbreaking ceremony for a new terminal at Maury County Airport took place on Thursday.

The Maury County Airport is a general aviation, public use regional airport located approximately 9 miles from Columbia & 2 miles from Mount Pleasant, TN. Amenities include ground handling, aviation fuel and parking, hangars, rental cars & courtesy transportation.

From Mayor Chaz Molder’s post

Thanks to a 2022 bipartisan infrastructure bill in Congress, and the support of state and local governments, the Terminal behind me will soon be replaced with a new, state of the art facility that is more fitting for our very busy, robust and economic engine of an airport.

As a community we can be grateful to our forefathers for their vision in establishing Maury Regional Airport in the early 1960s. In fact, in February of 1962, the Columbia City Council, led by newly installed Mayor Harry Napier, approved a resolution to partner with Maury County and Mt. Pleasant to build a regional airport. The bricks used were ‘left overs’ of the recently constructed Maury Regional Hospital.

This airport may be the greatest testament ever to what can be accomplished when we work together. May it be an example for all of us, and especially elected officials at all levels of government. I know it is true that we agree on more than we disagree! And when we partner more than when we divide.

Stay tuned, this new Terminal is going to do great things for our entire community. —CM
