Confirmed EF-1 Tornado Touches Down in Bedford & Rutherford Counties, Leaving Damage in Its Path

A tornado touched down in Bedford and Rutherford counties on Saturday afternoon as a strong line of storms swept through Middle Tennessee. The National Weather Service confirmed that the EF-1 tornado formed along Highway 41A, eventually traveling east-northeast before dissipating near Highway 231.

With peak winds reaching 95 mph, the tornado carved a path approximately 4.5 miles long and 300 yards wide. It first developed in northwest Bedford County, causing destruction near Carter Crossroads, where several barns, outbuildings, and storage sheds were either damaged or completely destroyed. As it continued its course, homes along Longview Road sustained minor damage, with reports of garage doors caving in, fences being knocked down, and roofing materials torn away.

The storm then moved into southwestern Rutherford County, toppling trees and damaging additional outbuildings along Threet Road. More tree damage was recorded as the system progressed toward Williams Road before eventually lifting near Jones Road, just before reaching Highway 231.

This tornado followed a path close to previous storms in the Christiana area, including those that occurred in November 2018 and May 2024. The National Weather Service has crews assessing damage across Middle Tennessee and will continue surveying storm impacts in the coming days.

Early Voting For Spring Hill’s Election Begins March 21st

Dates and times have been set for early voting ahead of the Spring Hill Election this spring. The purpose of this election is to elect a Mayor to serve a term of four years and one Alderman from each of the four wards to be elected at large.
