A Heartfelt Plea: The Well CEO Shares Urgent Need in Our Community

The Well Outreach’s CEO, Shelly Sassen, recently had to make a difficult decision. She shared about this in a heartfelt post on Wednesday…

A letter from our CEO~

Our Neighbors are in need… more than ever before. Everyday at The Well Outreach we hear the need… Single Mothers having difficulty putting food on the table, Seniors having to make difficult decisions to buy food… or pay for their medicine…, and those dealing with illness, isolation and job loss.

Our Neighbors are in NEED.

Here in Spring Hill, Columbia, Mt Pleasant and surrounding areas, there is TREMENDOUS NEED.

Rising mortgage and rent, high food costs, and gasoline, the basic necessities are becoming difficult reaches for families who are already going through a time of crisis.

And so that’s where The Well steps in during this crisis to help with food and HOPE… the most basic human needs to make sure that our Neighbors…

Our Grandparents and Seniors

Our Single Mothers

Our Neighbors DOWN THE STREET…

Have FOOD.

Recently the Well had to make the hardest decision we’ve ever made.

After 18 years of letting our families in need visit the Well Food Pantry up to 2x a month for food… we’ve had to limit grocery support to just one visit/month.

Our CEO (me), cried. We just couldn’t keep up with the NEED!

The Well has gone from serving:

-2400 Families a Year in 2019

-4200 Families in 2020

-4800 Families in 2021

-7700 Families in 2022

-12,000 Families in 2023

-20,000+ Families in 2024

This year… even with that heartbreaking change which impacted so many… The Well is projected to serve 24,000+ families… our neighbors in need.

24,000 families will need food support! Because of this…

The Well needs to ask your HELP!

YOUR FAMILY can help another local Family… your NEIGHBOR with the gift of FOOD! For a monthly donation of $30 you can provide groceries for your Neighbor.

-For $90/month your Family can feed 3 Neighbors

-For $300/mos your Family can feed 10 Neighbors

Can you help feed our Neighbors many who are going through the worst times of their life by offering the gift of HOPE?

From March 13th through April 15th The Well Outreach has a goal of getting 300 “Good Neighbor” MONTHLY SPONSORS to help us do this work.

Severe Storms Expected Across Middle Tennessee Late Tonight and into Saturday

Severe thunderstorms are forecasted to impact Middle Tennessee from late Friday night through early Saturday morning, with threats including damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes.

The National Weather Service indicates that areas west of Interstate 65 face an enhanced risk, while areas to the east have a lower—but still present—threat. Although storms are expected to weaken as they move eastward, all of Middle Tennessee remains at risk for severe weather.

These storms will primarily occur overnight, with the first round expected to arrive around midnight Friday. The most likely window for intense storm activity falls between 2 and 4 a.m. Saturday. If conditions align, significant severe weather could develop, bringing the potential for tornadoes, large hail, and strong winds.

By Saturday, severe weather threats will persist from noon until midnight before clearing out of the region.

Heavy rainfall is also expected, with a slight risk of flooding. While the likelihood of Middle Tennessee receiving three or more inches of rain is estimated at 10-40%, localized rises in rivers and streams, as well as water accumulation on roadways, are possible. Residents should remain weather-aware and prepared for changing conditions.

Weather analyst, Ryan Hall, commented… “It's gonna be a long weekend... Dangerous two-day severe outbreak takes aim at the heart of America. Intense tornadoes, destructive winds up to 75mph, and large hail march from Missouri to Alabama. Some storms hit after dark, when they're deadliest. Have multiple ways to get warnings.”

*Follow Ryan Hall on YouTube for coverage of the storms and also Weather Down in Muletown on Facebook for a local perspective.

Remember… the Maury County Emergency Operations Safe Space is located at 1451 Tom J. Hitch Parkway. They should post updates on their Facebook page about when the space is open / closed, etc.

March 21: Film Screening Explores The Cash Family’s Journey Through Addiction

The Mulehouse is honored to share this story as told straight from the Cash family and friends. Their compelling story of addiction is raw and untold at this depth. Join us for this history making film.

Before the film:

Welcome from the filmmakers and chance to meet Mark Cash (nephew of Johnny Cash). They will set up the film and Mark will perform several of the iconic songs from the Cash family prior to the film.

After film showing:

Q&A with the filmmakers as well as Mark Cash. Mark will close the evening with acoustic songs.

ABOUT THE FILM:

This one hour film features the nine members of the Cash Family as they share their family's untold journey with chemical addictions. This is a path that was also shared between lifelong friends Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins, as told by Carl’s son, Stan. This film depicts a story of this family that represents grace, effort and bravery beyond imagination.

Kris Kristofferson shared, “this film has explored the complexities and realities of addiction with honesty and heart rarely touched upon. The silent agony and baffling pull that has destroyed so many lives is looked straight in the eye with wondrous courage.”
