Find Your Tornado Shelter Website Helps Locate Safe Havens
Middle Tennessee is entering its most active tornado season, making it crucial for residents to have a safety plan. While tornado shelters are the safest option, those without access should seek shelter in the lowest level of a sturdy building, away from exterior walls and windows. Mobile homes and cars are not safe during a tornado, which is why many communities offer public storm shelters.
To help residents locate these shelters, meteorologist Dr. Craig Ceecee developed findyourtornadoshelter.com, a website that maps community storm shelters across the U.S. The site has gained popularity in recent years, highlighting the significant number of shelters in Alabama and Mississippi compared to Tennessee and Kentucky. The difference is likely due to FEMA funding, which heavily supported shelter construction in areas devastated by tornado outbreaks in 2011.
Ceecee is eager to work with local emergency agencies to expand the database and ensure communities in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky have accurate shelter information.
The Maury County Emergency Operations Safe Space is located at 1451 Tom J. Hitch Parkway. It serves as an administration office and also as a storm shelter for the citizens and visitors of Maury County in the event of severe weather conditions. Capacity: 300

Do you have a storm shelter?
The Maury County Office of Emergency Management asks… If you have a storm shelter, please fill out this form to provide us with its details. This will help us compile a comprehensive record of storm shelters within our community. Should damage occur in your vicinity, this information will assist first responders in locating you in case of potential entrapment. Be assured that this form will be kept confidential and accessible only to emergency services personnel as needed.
Christmas Comes Early: Music City Mistletoe Begins Filming in Nashville

Nashville is embracing the holiday spirit early as filming kicks off for Music City Mistletoe, a new Christmas movie set in the heart of Music City. Production began Tuesday, turning familiar locations into a festive winter wonderland.
The film tells the story of Chloe, a struggling songwriter on the brink of losing both her publishing deal and her shot at musical success. Along the way, viewers can expect appearances from notable Nashville personalities, including on-air host Kelly Sutton and former WKRN anchor Neil Orne.
Several local landmarks are featured in the movie, including The Commodore Grille and Eastside Music Supply, while portions of the film are also being shot in Hohenwald, TN.
Leading the cast is Sarah Pribis, known for her roles in The Bold and the Beautiful and A Belgian Chocolate Christmas, playing Chloe. Brooks Ryan and Christopher Callen join her in key roles as Devin and Sheri.
The screenplay comes from Nashville-based artist, songwriter, and now screenwriter Shantell Ogden, whose vision is bringing this festive tale to life.
Check out behind the scenes of the production on the movie’s socials and fill out this form for an opportunity to meet the cast members and a chance to become an extra on March 19th!
March 17 - 18: The Sound of Music Auditions
The Maury County Arts Guild is pleased to announce open auditions for our upcoming production of The Sound of Music -- directed by: Cathy Oakes
We welcome performers whatever their gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age sexual orientation or identity, education or disability.
This show is for auditioners ages 6 and up.
Please prepare 16 to 32 measures of a song from the show (preferably for the role you are auditioning for) and be prepared for possible cold readings from the script. You may be requested to stay for the length of the audition for reading chemistry.
The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.
Auditions dates: March 17th and 18th from 6pm to 9pm
Show dates: June 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 21st
