Severe Storms Expected in Middle TN Tonight

From US National Weather Service, Nashville, TN’s post…
Good evening, everyone. Now that we've got a break in the heavy rain, we have some time to talk about the severe threat for tonight. The most important thing we want you to take away from this post is to make sure your cell phone volume is turned up so you can hear any warnings that are issued overnight and to put some batteries in your weather radios. It's also a good idea to go over your severe weather plan now, so you can take quick action if needed.
Now, for the forecast. We are expecting a line of severe storms to move through the area later tonight (as early as 7PM near the TN River to around 3AM on the Plateau). The main threats will be damaging winds and brief tornadoes within the line. There is a possibility that some isolated storms develop ahead of the line, but there is a lot of uncertainty about the strength of these IF they develop.
The flooding threat isn't over yet either. This line may dump another 1 to 3 inches of rain on our already sopping wet ground. Expect some creeks to rise quickly as the heaviest rains move through late tonight. Our larger rivers are also expected to rise over the next day or so. You can view river forecasts at water.weather.gov.
