Winter Storm Warning Issued for Maury County Through Saturday Morning

The National Weather Service (NWS) Nashville has issued a winter storm warning for Maury County, expected to remain in effect until early Saturday morning. Snowfall accumulations are forecasted to range from three to seven inches across Middle Tennessee, with some areas potentially experiencing higher totals.
Pedestrians and drivers are urged to exercise caution due to slippery roads and hazardous conditions that may develop during the storm. South of I-40, light ice accumulations could cause a light glaze on top of the snow by mid-afternoon. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday morning and evening commutes. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 511.
Local Columbia churches are stepping up to provide 24/7 warming stations through Saturday, offering a safe refuge from the cold for those in need.
First United Methodist Church - 222 W. 7th St. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Saturday.
West 7th Church of Christ - 405 W. 7th St. from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Saturday.
City of Columbia, TN - Government posted this today 👇
The City of Columbia Public Works Department has begun pretreating over 480 miles of city streets ahead of the incoming weather event. The city is well-prepared with over 600 tons of salt and 10 fully equipped units featuring brine tanks, salt spreaders, and snowplows ready to keep roads as safe as possible.
Important Reminders:
-Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, as roads may become hazardous.
-Whenever possible, please avoid parking on roadways to allow snowplows to effectively pretreat and clear the streets.
