Grand Ole Opry Celebrates 100 Years at the Ryman with Star-Studded Event

The Grand Ole Opry marked the start of its next century with a star-studded three-hour event at the Ryman Auditorium, its former home from 1943 to 1974. The celebration featured a mix of Opry members and Country Music Hall of Fame inductees, showcasing the program's rich legacy and enduring influence on country music.

Performers included Bill Anderson, Charlie McCoy, Don Schlitz, Connie Smith, Mandy Barnett, Craig Morgan, the Travelin' McCourys, and Charlie Worsham. The evening was divided into eight mini-sets, each emphasizing the Opry's role in elevating country music’s foundational elements of authenticity, gratitude, and humility.

Highlights included a ten-song medley celebrating country music history, featuring classics like "Fox Chase," "Wabash Cannonball," and "Your Cheating Heart." Performances of iconic tracks, such as "When You Say Nothing At All" and "The Gambler," showcased the enduring power of songwriting.

The event also featured standout moments, such as Mandy Barnett’s renditions of "Crazy" and "Walk the Line," earning standing ovations, and Craig Morgan’s emotionally charged closer, including his classic "Almost Home." Morgan’s new song, "Red White and Blue Collar Prayer," also resonated deeply with the audience.

The celebration underscored the Opry's legacy as a platform for honoring country music’s traditions and connecting generations of fans through the timeless power of song.
