Columbia Mall Site Sold to Highland Capital for Redevelopment in 2025

Nashville-based Highland Capital has completed its acquisition of the former Columbia Mall site, paving the way for a major redevelopment into a Class A power center set to open in 2025. This project highlights the company’s dedication to revitalizing retail spaces across Middle Tennessee and fostering local economic growth.

With the acquisition finalized, Highland Capital has secured lease agreements with several national retailers, who will announce their involvement individually soon to build community anticipation for their openings.

Highland Capital Management, a Nashville-based investment and real estate development firm, specializes in retail development. With over 10 million square feet of redeveloped retail space in its portfolio, the company focuses on enhancing property values and enriching communities through strategic initiatives like this one.

Mayor Chaz Molder posted on Facebook earlier today: “This has been a long time coming. We’ve waited long enough. It was time. And it’s here. We are heading in to 2025 w some retail momentum.

Thanks to the new owners for their investment in our community and for the their efforts already underway to ensure commerce and retail will return to this location after all!”

New Community Microchip Station at Maury County Animal Services

Maury County Animal Services announced that they now have a community microchip station on the shelter grounds near the intake doors.

“A big thank you to Friends of MCAS for providing this valuable resource to our community. This means you can access a microchip scanner, with directions, at your convenience when you find a lost animal. You no longer need to wait for our open hours or for a local vet to open. You can come by the shelter and use the microchip scanner at any hour. We truly hope this helps reunite lost pets more immediately as the animal is found. Thank you, thank you Friends of MCAS.”
