Columbia Arts District Unveils New Sculptures by Local Artists

The City of Columbia recently unveiled two stunning sculptures in the heart of the Columbia Arts District, highlighting the talent of local artists Kevin Hale and Joseph Hazelwood. These new additions—Carbon Mic by Joseph Hazelwood, a piece blending tradition and innovation, and Wonderment by Kevin Hale, evoking curiosity and discovery—showcase the transformative power of public art.

The Arts District plays a vital role in Columbia's economy, helping generate tax revenue and support local businesses. In 2023, visitors to Columbia and Maury County contributed over $136 million in direct spending. Investments in cultural attractions like this not only beautify our city but also drive sustainable growth and reinforce Columbia as a top destination for art and culture.

Installed as part of the Arts District Streetscape Project, these sculptures enhance revitalized public spaces on South Garden Street. Stop by to see them and experience the creativity and charm that define Columbia!

Special thanks to Row & Co for allowing the City to use their beautiful outdoor space to host the unveiling ceremony!

Surprise Visitor: Deer Crashes into Tennessee Gym and Escapes Unharmed

A surprising incident unfolded in Hermitage, TN on Wednesday morning when a deer crashed through the window of Competitive Edge and Fitness. The startled animal caused a commotion as it darted across a treadmill and briefly became trapped in the gym's bathroom before eventually making its escape.

Fortunately, no one was injured, and the deer appeared unharmed as it fled the scene. However, the business sustained damage, particularly to the window the deer shattered to gain entry.

The incident, caught on video, offered a wild and unexpected twist to the morning routine at the fitness center.
