ThriftLOVE - Where Every Purchase Has a Purpose

At ThriftLOVE, every purchase goes beyond the sales floor, creating real opportunities and support for adults with special needs in our community. This non-profit thrift store was founded by Gina Russell, whose passion for helping adults with disabilities is deeply personal. With an adult son with Down syndrome, Gina has dedicated her career to uplifting this community.

In the late 90s, she chaired the Memphis Area Buddy Walk, an annual Down syndrome awareness event, and received Memphis’ Volunteer of the Year award in 2001 for her efforts. She continued her advocacy work with STEP, guiding parents through the IEP process and providing vital support. After moving to Columbia, she served at The Family Center, assisting community members in need and later managing their thrift store, Common Threads. She continued that work until she felt lead to start ThriftLOVE in 2020, creating a store where adults with disabilities could find purpose, mentorship, and employment in a supportive environment.

The dedicated ThriftLOVE team is led by Store Manager Sandie Haskins, who helped launch the store with her background in nonprofit and pastoral ministry work. Supporting her, Heather Maize and Sarah Compton serve as processing center managers, playing an essential role in the day-to-day flow of the store. Together, Gina, Sandie, Heather, and Sarah have built a welcoming, organized, and friendly shopping environment for customers while providing mentorship and career support for their special needs employees.

ThriftLOVE’s commitment to community goes even further. They partner with local organizations, including Rotary, the Maury Alliance, the Maury County Animal Shelter, and the King’s Daughters’ School. ThriftLOVE also offers regular monthly sales and special events like Senior Day every second Tuesday of the month, when seniors can shop early, receive a 10% discount, and enjoy live music in the store.

In an exciting expansion, ThriftLOVE will be opening a Holiday Shop next door today (11/6), adding festive items and holiday decor just in time for the season!

By shopping at ThriftLOVE, customers can feel good knowing they’re supporting a mission that makes a difference in lives right here in Columbia, blending meaningful employment with a truly unique shopping experience.

Location: 1116 Nashville Hwy, Suite 101, Columbia

*Donations of gently used clothing, household goods, and furniture can be delivered in the rear of the store during business hours.
