"Unplugged For Appalachia" Concert Supports Helene Victims in Tennessee and North Carolina

The Nashville music club, Exit/In has announced a hurricane relief concert titled "Unplugged For Appalachia" to support recovery efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in Tennessee and North Carolina. The benefit concert, set for October 14 at 7 p.m., will feature performances from well-known country and Americana artists: Stephen Wilson Jr., Lori McKenna, Travis Denning, Amanda Shires, Lily Rose, Elvie Shane, Payton Smith, Sam Williams, Kat Luna, Evie, Marti Dodson, Autumn McEntire, Mae Estes, SJ McDonald, Merin Seaver and Jenna Lea.

The event will raise funds for the American Red Cross and Tennessee Rangers, both of whom are actively involved in providing aid to the regions hit hardest by Helene. The Category 4 hurricane struck at the end of September, bringing catastrophic flooding, primarily to Western North Carolina, and claiming over 230 lives. It stands as the fourth-deadliest hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. since 1950.

More than 450 Tennessee National Guard members and thousands of first responders continue to assist in rescue and recovery efforts in East Tennessee and North Carolina, with over 6,500 people rescued as of early October. Despite significant relief efforts, many towns remain without power or water as recovery operations persist.

Hosted by WSM's Eryn Cooper and Warner Chappell A&R's Benji Chord, the concert offers an opportunity for those in attendance to contribute directly to hurricane relief. For those unable to attend, a fundraising link will be made available to donate towards the cause. Tickets for the event go on sale today.

Local Donation Drop Off Spot For Helene Victims Open Until Friday

From Scott Prins’ post in the I Heart Columbia (Muletown) Facebook group:

We are in the process of collecting donations for the East Tennessee Disaster Relief. As many of you know, it wasn't just North Carolina who suffered massive damage from Hurricane Helene. There are many suffering right here in the Volunteer State.

We will have a trailer set up starting Monday through Friday at the old Ford Dealership site on James Campbell Blvd. We plan on being there roughly from 10a-5p. It is our goal to fill this trailer with the much needed items listed below. We will be taking this trailer to Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, where items are being staged for distribution.

I want to take a moment to give a shout out to our Sponsors who have graciously donated goods and money to this cause:

Accent Controls - Kansas City MO.
Vinyl Flag Signs and Graphics - Columbia, TN.
Faith Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church - Columbia, TN.
Columbia Farm Store - Columbia, TN.
Town and Country Realtors - Columbia, TN.
Tripp's Ace Hardware - Columbia, TN.

What do we need? First and most importantly we need your prayers. We need prayers for filling this trailer and for our safety transporting these much needed items to Bristol.

Secondly, we need the following items:

Distilled water, First Aid Supplies, Cleaning Products and Supplies, Batteries (9volt, AA, and AAA), Baby Formula, Baby Wipes, Diapers, Non-Perishable Food, Canned Goods, Juice, and Flashlights. We are not set up to accept donations of clothing.

If you cannot make it to the store, any monetary donations will be used to purchase the above items on your behalf.

You can PM Scott Prins on FB Messenger or Robin N Gary Dunkel, if you have any questions. We are called the Volunteer State for a reason and we look forward to sharing your love and generosity with those in need.
