Spring Hill Police Bust Coordinated iPhone Porch Theft Operation
Spring Hill police have uncovered a crime syndicate targeting specific iPhone deliveries using insider information to steal expensive devices from customers' porches. Unlike typical porch thefts, these crimes are highly coordinated, with criminals knowing exactly when and where packages will arrive. A recent theft of a new iPhone from Rebecca Clark's home highlighted the operation, where thieves took the package minutes after delivery.
Spring Hill police quickly apprehended two suspects with multiple stolen iPhones in their possession, including Clark's. Authorities believe these men are part of a larger syndicate that obtains delivery details from insiders and sends operatives to execute the thefts. The investigation, involving FedEx and other local police departments, is ongoing, and further arrests may follow.
Maury County Judicial Center Ribbon Cutting

Yesterday Maury County past chairman Eric Previti and Past chairman Don Morrow cut the ribbon on the brand new Maury County Judicial center. Construction started on this in 2022. The facility is a $36 million building with 6 courtrooms. Our existing courthouse was completed in 1906. She was built for the population at the time. At our last census, Maury County has grown to over 100,000 people. This courthouse was not ADA compliant and there was quite often overcrowding and safety issues. This new facility provides for the safety of the witnesses as well as the accused. It provides extra parking spaces and is a great addition to downtown Columbia. The new Judicial center will see operations in a couple of weeks after everyone gets moved in. It’s the intention to repurpose the old Courthouse as a county museum and other judicial offices.
Friday: Room in the Inn Octoberfest Fundraiser
Mark your calendars, Columbia – Room in the Inn’s biggest fundraiser of the year is just around the corner! On October 4th, the community is invited to join in the Oktoberfest festivities and support a fantastic local cause.
Room in the Inn is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing shelter, resources, and hope to single mothers and their children in need. Their latest project, Grace House, aims to create a safe, supportive living space with individual beds, private bedrooms and bathrooms, a community kitchen, and laundry facilities. All proceeds from this year’s Oktoberfest event will go directly towards the construction of Grace House, making a real difference in the lives of local families.
So what can you expect at this year’s Oktoberfest celebration? Plenty of fun, food, and community spirit! The event will take place on October 4 at Riverwalk Park in Columbia from 6pm -10pm. Guests will be able to enjoy local craft beer tastings, delicious fare from food trucks, live music, and traditional Oktoberfest games and activities. Riverwalk Park is located at 102 Riverside Drive, Columbia.
