Maury County's Growth Spurs Fire Department to Hire Six Full-Time Firefighters
In response to Maury County's rapid population growth and increased emergency calls, the Maury County Fire Department will hire six full-time firefighters starting in October. This move aims to improve response times, particularly in remote areas, where current volunteer firefighters often face delays. The new firefighters will work from the main fire hall, providing immediate support for emergencies. County officials have allocated $400,000 for the new hires, who are expected to enhance the department's efficiency. With new fire stations and staff in place, the department hopes to address the growing demand for fire services.
Inaugural Columbia 101 Program is a Success!

From the City of Columbia, TN - Government’s Facebook post:
The City of Columbia is excited to announce the successful completion of the inaugural Columbia 101 program! This two-day event, held on September 17th and 18th, gave participants a hands-on opportunity to engage with city officials, all city departments, learn about local government services, and explore ways to get involved in the community.
Attendees toured a variety of city facilities, including Fire & Rescue, Public Works, and Wastewater, gaining valuable insights into how the city operates behind the scenes. Special thanks to our guest speakers Melissa LaForest of Keep Maury Beautiful, Inc. and Kara Williams of Maury Alliance!
Columbia 101 will be offered twice a year, open to all City of Columbia and Maury County residents. Stay tuned for details on the next session! Visit this link for more info about this great program!
Saturday: Athenaeum Candlelight Tour
