Keith Urban celebrated the launch of his new album HIGH with a surprise pop-up concert in downtown Nashville on Thursday night. The Grammy-winning country star drew a massive crowd of 25,000 fans to lower Broadway. This performance followed similar pop-up shows in cities like Dallas, Chicago, Sydney, Brisbane, and unique locations such as Nashville International Airport and a Buc-ee's parking lot in Alabama.

The free show was announced on his Instagram at about 8 p.m. saying, “I love free stuff…do you ? I love giving…do you love getting? Then we’re gonna get along GREAT TONIGHT….. SEE YOU SOON.” The show started at 9:30 p.m., and the official after-party followed the show at 11 p.m.

Wawa Convenience Store Proposal Receives Initial Approval in Columbia

Columbia's Municipal Planning Commission gave tentative approval on Sept. 11 for a new Wawa gas station and convenience store at the corner of Napa Valley Way and Nashville Highway, near the Village at Carter’s Station development. Wawa's representative, Megan Salvador, requested minor exceptions from the city's Planned Unit Development (PUD) standards. These included reduced glazing on the storefront, a single-story façade, a reversed layout with the fuel station in front, wider parking lot exits, and elevated signage.

The Wawa team argued that the store's unique location and branding needs justified these deviations. However, city planners, led by Principal Planner Austin Brass, expressed concerns about staying within building code requirements for safety and aesthetics. After thorough discussion, the Commission ultimately found the deviations manageable and voted in favor of the project, with one dissenting vote. The plan now moves to City Council for final approval in October.

Andrew Bannister informed the Commission that a Wawa location could help alleviate business traffic from students, Ultium workers, and commuters, reducing congestion at other convenience stores and restaurants along Nashville Highway. He also noted that the chain's reputation for cleanliness and high-quality food would enhance the surrounding area, including the nearby neighborhood within walking distance.

Public feedback was largely supportive, with two Columbia residents, originally from the Northeast, praising Wawa’s quality, cleanliness, and said the brand would be good for Columbia.
