Benefit Concert Raises $13K for Columbia’s Room in the Inn Homeless Shelter
A benefit concert held on Sept. 5, featuring musicians Makky Kaylor, Brenda Lynn Allen, and Jack Plant, raised $13,000 for Room in the Inn, nearly filling the 500-seat Mulehouse. Room at the Inn, founded by Rev. Jeff Kane, provides housing and support to homeless families in Columbia, continuing a legacy started in Nashville decades ago. The funds raised will go toward renovating Grace House, a former church, into a residence for four families, offering private rooms and shared facilities.
Rev. Kane began this initiative after recognizing Columbia’s lack of a homeless shelter. Initially operating out of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the program faced challenges but evolved to focus on assisting homeless families, particularly single mothers. The new Grace House will further this mission by offering a stable environment where families can transition to self-sufficiency.
Room in the Inn's mission continues to grow, with the goal of not just providing shelter but fostering long-term stability for homeless families. As the community rallies together through events like the benefit concert, the program looks ahead to expanding its impact, ensuring that more families in need have access to safe housing and the resources necessary to rebuild their lives. The success of the concert is a testament to the community’s dedication to helping those in need and the ongoing efforts to address homelessness in Maury County.
Mark your calendars and grab your tickets for Oktoberfest 2024, Room in the Inn’s next fundraiser event, on October 4th. “Don't miss out on a night of fun for a fantastic local cause. Let's raise a stein together for a brighter future!”
🏐 Hustle Factory Volleyball Club Hosts September Tryouts in Spring Hill and Columbia

Are you looking for a place where young athletes can grow not only in their volleyball skills but also as individuals? Discover Hustle Factory Volleyball Club (HFVC).
Located at Hustle Factory Sports Complex in Spring Hill and their new branch in Columbia, HFVC offers an inclusive environment for girls ages 7-18 to thrive both on and off the court.
“Hustle Factory helped our daughter grow in her confidence as an athlete. She was taught skill and was challenged in ways that made her want to improve.”
-Katie Day (parent)
Founded in 2022 by Tim Cooper, HFVC aims to inspire and challenge players, fostering growth in all aspects of life. Tim’s extensive background, including playing and coaching volleyball for nearly a decade, informs the club’s holistic approach. His experiences range from coaching beginners to college athletes and even leading teams in international competitions in Thailand and West Africa.
“Our club is distinctive from other volleyball and youth sports clubs in that we are focused on the individual’s holistic development. While developing their athletic skills is a priority for our club it does not override the importance of character development and helping them to mature into kind, responsible and confident adults. We believe that a coach is able to connect with young athletes in a way parents, teachers and peers cannot. Our coaches are trained and encouraged to look for teachable moments and to develop healthy coach/player relationships throughout the season.”

Keeping volleyball affordable and accessible is one of our priorities and we are proud to say we have not raised our club costs in 3 seasons. Over 50% of our families chose to participate in fundraisers last season which helped cover a significant portion of their athletes club dues.
