Maury County Fire Crews Tackle Hay Bale Fire, Car Blaze, and Vehicle Rescue

From Maury County Fire Department’s Facebook post:

🚨 BUSY WEDNESDAY 🔥

Units responded to several incidents on Wednesday including: a hay bale on fire, a vehicle fire, and a vehicle extrication.

A hay bale caught fire from a hot bearing on Tanyard Hollow Rd. Brush 23 and Squad 21 rolled the hay bale out and extinguished it. Tanker 23 cooled the hay baler down to ensure it didn’t catch fire as well.

Just before 7pm Wednesday units responded to Enterprise Rd for a vehicle fire. Engine 22 arrived to find a vehicle fully involved. No injuries were reported.

At 9:51PM units responded to Bear Creek Pike for an MVA. Rescue 21 and Squad 32 arrived to find a vehicle over a guard rail and down an embankment with one patient trapped. Units used hydraulic tools to make access and then assisted Maury Regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Paramedics with loading the patient in a stokes basket with a haul system to bring the patient to the roadway. Air Evac Lifeteam 09- Lewisburg, TN landed on scene to transport the patient to a trauma center.

Saturday: “I Count” Week Kick-Off Event at Fairview Park

From The City of Columbia, TN - Government Facebook event page:

The City of Columbia is excited to announce the launch of "I Count" Week—a special initiative encouraging all City of Columbia residents to participate in the Special Census and ensure an accurate count of our city’s growing population!

Join us for a fun and informative kickoff event on Saturday, August 31st, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fairview Park (871 Iron Bridge Road). This community event will make the online self-response process easy and enjoyable for everyone.

What to Expect:

Free popcorn and shaved ice for residents who complete the Special Census online.

Computers available for those without smartphones or who need assistance with the online form.

Friendly city staff on-site to help guide you through the census process.

To participate, bring your 12-digit Census ID mailed to your address by the U.S. Census Bureau. The online questionnaire is quick—just 10 minutes! The response period is open through September 6, 2024.

Remember, all information is confidential and used only for statistical purposes.

Accurate population data is crucial for our city to receive the proper funding for infrastructure, public safety and other important city services. Since the 2020 Census, Columbia has grown significantly. This Special Census ensures that every resident is counted, helping to build a stronger, more resilient community!
