Maury County Fire Department Heavy Equipment Rescue on Wednesday Night

From Maury County Fire Department’s Facebook Post on 8/22/24:

Last night (8/21/24) at 7:04PM units were alerted to a person entrapped in heavy equipment on Terrapin Branch Rd.

Responding units: Rescue 21, Squad 21, Utility 21, Brush 22, District 22, and Deputy 20. Units arrived to find the operator of a skid steer, approximately 300 yards behind a home in a heavily wooded area and on top of a steep hill with their lower extremities trapped by the cab of the skid steer. Due to a residential bridge, our heavy rescue had to remain on the roadway. Equipment was loaded in a truck and driven to the home where FF’s and Maury County Sheriff's Department Deputies then took it up the steep wooded area to where the person was trapped.

Members quickly secured a chain to the top of the cab and used a power puller attached to a tree to lift the cab. Maury Regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Paramedics provided care to the patient throughout the rescue. The patient was loaded in a stokes basket and carefully lowered down the hill to an awaiting ambulance. Other units secured an LZ for VUMC Lifeflight.

Special thanks to the hard work of our Sheriff’s Deputies, Maury EMS Paramedics, and Maury 911 Dispatchers for their hard work and care.

America’s Longest Zipline Coming to TN

WildSide, a newly opened adventure park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is set to introduce the longest zip line in the United States. The Mega Zip, which will stretch over a mile at 5,771 feet, promises an exhilarating experience for both seasoned zip liners and beginners. The zip line begins at an elevation of 2,472 feet in the Smoky Mountains, descending over 1,000 feet to a final elevation of 1,377 feet, offering breathtaking views along the way.

This upcoming attraction will surpass the current longest zip line in the country, the Catamonster Zip at Catamount Mountain Resort in Hillsdale, New York, which measures 5,523 feet. WildSide plans to open the Mega Zip in spring 2025, aiming to push the boundaries of adventure and create an unforgettable experience for its visitors.

WildSide Adventure Park, which opened in July, spans nearly 900 acres of pristine mountain land with trails featuring elevation changes of up to 1,500 feet. The park offers a variety of outdoor activities, including seven miles of mountain bike trails and eight miles of utility task vehicle (UTV) trails, catering to all levels of experience.

Visitors can embark on guided UTV tours through forested paths and rocky terrain, with options for two to six riders per vehicle. WildSide is the latest creation from the team behind Anakeesta, a popular nature-immersive adventure park in Gatlinburg.
