Maury County Approves New 3-Year Ambulance Agreement with Maury Regional Medical Center

The Maury County Commission voted this week to adopt a new three-year ambulance agreement with Maury Regional Medical Center.

The agreement will provide $2 million per year, with a 5% increase each subsequent year. This funding will enable Maury Regional to purchase at least two ambulances annually.

The agreement also mandates that there will be seven 24-hour ambulances on duty at all times, along with two 12-hour ambulances.

The request for additional ambulances began in 2023 when Maury Regional Health issued a letter to the county, citing the need due to continued population growth.

The previous agreement allocated $600,000 per year by the county for ambulance services.

Once brought to a vote, the agreement passed 16-1.

In addition to Maury Regional's ambulance agreement, two other Maury County organizations received approval for additional grant money.

The Maury County Health Department will receive a grant of up to $1,488,225 from the Tennessee Department of Health through June 30, 2025. This grant aims to provide additional medical services to rural areas.

Maury County Animal Services will receive $1,100 from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture for a low-cost sterilization program for dogs and cats.

Before the main meeting, Maury County Sheriff Bucky Rowland spoke about the recent 20th annual Maury County Sheriff's Rodeo, describing it as a tremendous success.

The event saw packed bleachers and a bustling vendor alley. The Sheriff's Rodeo, held annually as a charity benefit for the department's Shop with a Cop program, has seen substantial growth over its 20-year history. Initially organized by the SROs and reserves, it has now become a major community event, fully embraced by the Sheriff's Department and the local community. Sheriff Rowland expressed gratitude for the community's support and enthusiasm, noting the event's significant positive impact on local youth.

🚨 Spring Hill Sobriety Checkpoint Tonight

The Spring Hill Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint beginning on Friday, July 26th from 11 pm until 1 am.

This checkpoint will be located on Main St. close to Crossings Blvd.

A Tennessee Supreme Court ruling requires this notification.

Year to date the SHPD has made 87 arrests for driving under the influence. Please remember to choose a sober ride.

🪕 Fri/Sat: Bluegrass Along the Harpeth in Franklin Square

Always held the 4th weekend in July, Bluegrass Along the Harpeth was started in 1991 and has had several homes in Franklin over the years. Most recently it has made its home on the town square. The historic backdrop is the perfect place for our weekend of music in honor of Franklin's own Grand Ole Opry stars Sam and Kirk McGee. This festival is put on and operated by old time musicians and dancers. It's their love for the music and its preservation that make this festival special and a not-to-be-missed event every year.

Friday night we have some of the best bluegrass bands around for a relaxing evening and end to the work week. On Saturday, you will find some of the best musicians anywhere competing in our individual instruments and band contests. In addition to all of the music, we have food and craft vendors that are sure to have something to satisfy a sweet tooth or be that one of a kind gift you have been wanting.
