Celebrate Independence Day in Maury County with a Day Full of Festivities
Maury County will be showing its patriotic spirit today with a variety of events suitable for all ages, including parades, park workouts, and fireworks.
The festivities kick off this morning with the Rotary & Kiwanis' 4th of July Event at Maury County Park, sponsored by both Breakfast and Noon Rotary, as well as Columbia Kiwanis. The event begins with an honoring ceremony at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Kid's Bike Parade at 9:15 a.m.
Later, Maury County Parks and Recreation will host its annual fireworks showcase at the park. The fireworks display is set to start at 9 p.m. on Thursday from Monsanto Hill and is expected to last about 20 minutes. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for a good viewing spot.
In Mt. Pleasant, the 4th of July will also mark the city's Bicentennial Anniversary. The celebration starts at 7 p.m. in the downtown Mt. Pleasant Square, 100 Public Square, featuring live music, food, and more. The event will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.
Spring Hill will begin the day with its annual Run for Hunger benefiting The Well Outreach food pantry. Starting at 7 a.m. at Summit High School, 2830 Twin Lakes Drive, the event includes a 5K race and a color foam fun run, followed by the Spring Hill Parks & Recreation's July 4th Bicycle Parade.
July 9: School Board Candidate Forum

Maury Alliance is hosting a forum for the School Board candidates running in the August 1 elections. This event is for the public and everyone is welcome to attend. The forum will take place at Columbia State Community College -Ledbetter Auditorium, located at 1665 Hampshire Pike on Tuesday July 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM CDT. Doors open at 5:00PM. The forum begins promptly at 5:15PM.

July 12 - 14: Duck River Outdoor Expo at Henry Horton State Park

The Duck River Outdoor Expo is a brand-new annual event dedicated to showcasing the outdoor recreation industry that aids in the conservation and education of the Duck River. Held at Henry Horton State Park just 40-miles south of Nashville and with six miles of shoreline, the expo aims to promote the preservation of this biodiverse watershed.
This outdoor recreation-focused event will create a platform for vendors to showcase their products and services that align with the conservation-based outdoor activities in the area.
Through a variety of interactive exhibits, presentations and events, attendees can anticipate a weekend filled with activities ranging from the Run Duck Run (Duathlon), Disc Golf Putting, the Mad Mallard (Trail Run), the Hammer Drop (Mountain Bike Race) to live music, outdoor vendors, food and beverage trucks, free yoga sessions, gear demos and more.
The expo fosters a deeper appreciation for the Duck River while inspiring individuals to get out and explore the outdoors through a variety of ADVENTURE activities. This is a family friendly event.
