OPmobility Announces $3 Million Expansion in Spring Hill, Creating 186 New Jobs

OPmobility officials announced on Monday that the company will undergo a $3 million expansion at its Spring Hill plant.
This expansion by the sustainable mobility company will create 186 new jobs in Maury County, up from the current 18, and add to the 568 jobs the company provides across the state, bolstering the automotive industry.
Headquartered in France, OPmobility is a global family-led group operating 152 plants in 28 countries. The company has been in Tennessee since 2015, with locations in Chattanooga, Smyrna, Spring Hill, and Hendersonville.
Officials stated that this project represents a new opportunity for OPmobility to enhance its product offerings and further support electric vehicle production lines.
Governor Bill Lee and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter praised the expansion. Lee emphasized Tennessee's reputation as a prime business location and expressed gratitude for OPmobility's decision to expand, bringing more jobs and opportunities to the state.
Since 2020, the TNECD has backed around 15 economic development projects in Maury County, resulting in over 3,500 job commitments and nearly $5 billion in capital investments.
McWhorter noted that this expansion highlights the ongoing automotive industry growth in Tennessee. Maury County is home to the largest General Motors plant in North America, located in Spring Hill, which also hosts the multi-billion-dollar Ultium Cells battery plant supplying batteries for the Cadillac SUV Lyriq manufactured there.
State Senator Joey Hensley and Representative Kip Capley both celebrated the nearly 200 new jobs that the expansion will bring to Maury County and Middle Tennessee.
