Vols Rally Past Texas A&M to Keep Championship Hopes Alive

Tennessee secured a crucial victory in Omaha, overcoming a 1-0 deficit with two clutch home runs by Dylan Dreiling and Cal Stark, resulting in a 4-1 win that forces a decisive third game today.

Christian Moore got the game off to a promising start with a leadoff single and a stolen base, but he was left stranded as subsequent batters failed to bring him home. Texas A&M took an early lead with a solo home run by Jace LaViolette, but Drew Beam ended the inning with back-to-back strikeouts.

In the second inning, Hunter Ensley singled to start, prompting Texas A&M to bring in reliever Chris Cortez. However, the Vols couldn't capitalize, leaving the bases loaded. Beam continued his strong performance by striking out the side in the bottom of the second inning, maintaining the narrow deficit.

Despite loading the bases again in the fourth inning, Tennessee failed to score, reminiscent of their struggles in game one where they left ten runners on base. The Aggies threatened in the fifth, but a pitching change to Aaron Combs helped the Vols escape the inning without allowing a run.

Tennessee's breakthrough came in the seventh inning when Dreiling hit a two-run homer, giving the Vols their first lead of the series. Stark followed with another two-run homer in the eighth, extending the lead to 4-1. Stark's hit was particularly significant as it was his first in Omaha after going 0-for-16.

In the ninth inning, Combs was replaced by Kirby Connell after allowing a leadoff single. Connell then gave up another single, prompting Nate Snead to take over with two runners on and no outs. Tennessee's defense held firm, securing the final outs to clinch the win.

The decisive game three of the College World Series Final is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT today.

Game will be broadcast on ESPN. Streaming options for the game include the ESPN app and FUBO, which offers a free trial to potential subscribers, and ESPN+, which is ESPN's subscription-based streaming service.
