Middle Tennessee Counties Eligible for FEMA Aid Following May Storms and Floods

A disaster declaration has been issued for several Middle Tennessee counties affected by severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes from May 8-9.
FEMA has announced that public assistance via federal funding is accessible to state and eligible local governments, as well as certain private nonprofit organizations, on a cost-sharing basis.
Counties such as Montgomery, Cheatham, Sumner, and Maury are included in the list for FEMA assistance, as per the President's declaration. Additionally, Cannon, Giles, Hamilton, Jackson, Macon, Polk, Smith, and Warren Counties are also eligible for this funding.
Deadly tornadoes struck Columbia in Maury County, resulting in one fatality and a two-mile path of destruction. Several rounds of strong storms brought heavy rains and damaging winds across Middle Tennessee, including flooding that led to the death of Asher Sullivan in Rutherford County.
Statewide, federal funding is available for hazard mitigation measures.
