Spring Hill Single Mother Braces for Rebuilding After Tornado Devastation

Following the EF3 tornado that swept through Maury County weeks ago, Brooke Huckaby, a single mother of three from Spring Hill, found herself among the worst affected. Her family's long-held property on Blackburn Lane, known as 'Huckaby Hill,' was devastated by the storm, altering its familiar landscape beyond recognition.

Brooke's decades-long connection to this land, purchased by her father years ago, has been severely disrupted. The tornado obliterated her trailer, displacing it by six feet from its original position. Now faced with the daunting task of rebuilding, Brooke and her family are grappling with the enormity of starting anew.

On the evening of May 8, while preparing dinner for her children, Brooke received a crucial call from her aunt, who resides nearby. Sensing imminent danger, her aunt urgently told Brooke and her children to seek shelter immediately. Leaving half-cooked chicken nuggets behind, they sought refuge in the basement just moments before the tornado struck.

Recalling the terrifying ordeal, Brooke likened the tornado's deafening roar to that of a passing train, causing intense pressure changes that popped their ears. Despite the devastation to their home, Brooke expressed gratitude that her family emerged physically unscathed from the disaster.

Navigating the aftermath as a single mother of three has proven exceptionally challenging for Brooke. She acknowledged the uncertainties that now accompany each day, unsure of what the future holds or where their path will lead next. Despite these hardships, Brooke remains resolute and hopeful, believing in better days ahead despite the current darkness.

In response to the overwhelming support needed for her family's recovery, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist Brooke Huckaby in rebuilding her home.

Vols Beat Seminoles 12 to 11 in Thrilling College World Series Win

Dylan Dreiling's walk-off single completed a dramatic rally for Tennessee in the bottom of the ninth, securing a thrilling 12-11 victory over No. 6 Florida State in their Men's College World Series opener on Friday night at Charles Schwab Field. This victory was bolstered by an extraordinary performance from Christian Moore, who became only the second player in College World Series history to hit for the cycle, and the first since Jerry Kindall of Minnesota achieved the feat in 1956.

NEXT: After an off day tomorrow, Tennessee will play No. 3/6 North Carolina in Sunday night's winner's bracket game at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The Tar Heels were also walk-off winners on Friday, defeating Virginia, 3-2 in the afternoon game.
