Family of Influence Walking Tour

The President James K. Polk Home and Museum presents a walking tour of downtown Columbia, TN that features the history of the town told through stories of the Polk family.

Before it was Mule Town USA, what was Columbia like? As some of the earliest residents, the Polk family helped shape the town. Learn about Samuel Polk's fist fight on the city square, William Polk's duel and the trees that spelled out "Andrew Jackson."

This interactive tour will begin and end at the President James K. Polk Home & Museum and takes participants around the downtown area. The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours and does not include a tour of the Polk Home itself. Visitors should dress weather appropriate and wear comfortable shoes.

Limited tickets may be available at the door, but participants are encouraged to purchase their tickets ahead of time to ensure their spot on the tour.
