How Maury County Voted: Results From Every Race on Tuesday’s Ballot

Stewart Parker finished Tuesday night more than 1,600 votes ahead of his closest competitor in the race for Columbia mayor, and he’ll take over leadership of the city in 2027.
Parker received 4,027 votes, about a third of those cast in the five-candidate race, according to unofficial results from the Maury County Election Commission. Eric Previti finished second with 2,401. Parker will succeed Mayor Chaz Molder.
The race was not a close one for long. Parker led once early voting and absentee totals were released, and that lead held as precinct numbers came in throughout the night.
Parker posted a video thank-you message to Instagram on election night. You can watch it here.
Speaking after the results came in, Parker described the mayor’s role largely as being an advocate for Columbia: promoting the city and working to bring more state funding back for local projects. He also credited the city manager and Columbia’s financial management, calling the city’s financial position a strong starting point for any incoming mayor.
Looking ahead, Parker said he hopes Columbia can keep growing while staying financially responsible, and become a place where young people feel welcome and longtime senior residents aren’t pushed out of their homes.
The vice mayor’s race was decided by a much thinner margin. Ward 2 Councilman Charlie Huffman unseated incumbent Vice Mayor Randy McBroom, 5,852 votes to 5,726, a difference of 126 votes.
Molder’s run for TN House District 5 ended in defeat. Republican Charlie Hatcher won the district with 110,408 votes (51.7%) to Molder’s 99,841 (46.7%). Maury County leaned more heavily toward Hatcher, 17,276 to 9,438.
Molder shared a message with supporters today here.
After this year’s redistricting, Maury County voters are split between two U.S. House districts. In District 9, Republican Brent Taylor led Democratic incumbent Justin J. Pearson among Maury County voters, 5,539 to 3,609.
Both of Maury County’s Republican state representatives held their seats. Scott Cepicky won District 64 over Democrat Craig D’Apolito, and Kip Capley won District 71 over Democrat Matt Day.
The results are unofficial until the Maury County Election Commission certifies them, which is scheduled for Nov. 13. The full unofficial results are available on the election commission’s website.
