Halloween Saturday: Trick-or-Treating, Pumpkins, Comedy and More Around Columbia

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and the calendar is full from early morning to midnight. Between farmers markets, pumpkin patches, trunk or treats, haunted woods and a free comedy show, there’s something for just about every age. Here are a few highlights to help you plan the day.

Haunted Harvest at the Columbia Farmers Market
Riverwalk Park | Market 8 AM - 12 PM, Haunted Harvest 10 AM - 12 PM

The Columbia Farmers Market is adding some Halloween to its regular Saturday morning at Riverwalk Park. Shop the market starting at 8 AM, then from 10 AM to noon kids can make spooky suncatchers, play bingo, get their faces painted and go trick-or-treating from farmer to farmer. It’s free, and costumes are encouraged.

Hidden Bee Farm Pumpkin Patch
9 AM - 6 PM

Hidden Bee Farm is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit farm animal sanctuary in Columbia, and the pumpkin patch is its biggest event of the year. The farm has added more activities this season, and the grounds are decorated with mums, cornstalks and fall decor, so bring a camera. Along with pumpkins, visitors can see the animals and grab something to eat.

Magician’s Market at Henry Horton State Park
9 AM - 3 PM

Now in its sixth year, the Magician’s Market celebrates fantasy fiction and the authors behind it, from wizards and dragons to fae. The day includes vendors, bounce houses and more at Henry Horton State Park.

Haunting in the District
Downtown Columbia | 6 - 8 PM

Kids 12 and under can trick-or-treat for free throughout Downtown Columbia on Halloween night. Bring a costume and the biggest candy bag you can find.

Free Comedy Night at McCreary’s
Upstairs at McCreary’s Irish Pub & Eatery | 7 PM

Comedian Drew Davis is putting together a Halloween night comedy show upstairs at McCreary’s, featuring @drewdaviscomedy, @jessilyann, @savannah_no_bananas, @itsjoecason, @rsweatcomedy and @cortneywarner13. Admission is free, so organizers suggest putting that money toward dinner and tips instead.

If you’re looking for more trick-or-treating…

Pentecostals of Columbia (955 Baker Rd) is hosting a fall festival and trunk or treat from 3 to 5 PM, Benton Nissan of Columbia has one from 5 to 8 PM, and Stan’s Restaurant (1555 Bear Creek Pike) starts at 6 PM. In Spring Hill, kids in costume eat free all day at The Spot Burgers & Beers.

If you’re making a whole day (and night) of it…

Tenn Pin Alley has pumpkin painting and a scavenger hunt from 10 AM to 2 PM, then a Halloween Glow Bowl from 9 PM to midnight. For grown-up plans, Twisted Copper Brewing Co. is hosting the Twisted Punk Bazaar with a costume contest from 5 to 11 PM, and anyone wanting a scare can head to Creepy Hollow Haunted Woods or Millers Thrillers, both running 7 to 11 PM. Saturday is also opening day for Paperboy Hotdogs at 206 Depot St. (11 AM to 4 PM) and the grand opening of the Graceful Mule (10 AM to 4 PM).

That’s still only part of the lineup. The What’s Up Columbia! events calendar 👇 has dozens of listings for Saturday, including yard and consignment sales, farmers markets in Bear Creek and Spring Hill, fall festivals, corn mazes and a Predators game. Take a look before you head out, and have a safe and happy Halloween!

Colonel Joe Roberson Bridge Dedicated on Carters Creek Pike

From Maury County Mayor Sheila Butt’s post on Thursday…

Today, I was honored to attend the dedication of the Colonel Joe Roberson Bridge on Carters Creek Pike, recognizing a man whose life reflects service, leadership, and a deep commitment to Maury County.

Colonel Roberson served our country with distinction during the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and many more awards during his 30-year career in the United States Army. Following his military service, he continued serving our community as an educator, a Maury County Commissioner for 12 years, and a dedicated volunteer through his church and community organizations.

As a published historian and genealogist, he has also worked to preserve the stories and heritage of Maury County for future generations.

I’m grateful to see Colonel Roberson’s extraordinary contributions recognized through this dedication. Thank you, Colonel Roberson, for your service to our country and our community.

Dinner with five strangers? Hear us out.

Making friends as an adult is weirdly hard. The What’s Up Columbia Dinner Club is a low-pressure way to meet new people, and you don’t have to plan a thing.

Join us on Thursday, Nov. 19th at 6:30 PM. We’ll match you with five people for dinner at a downtown restaurant, then all the tables meet up at a surprise after-party. Book your seat here.
