Election Day Is Tuesday: What Maury County Voters Need to Know

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and a good share of Tennesseans have already voted. Nearly 27% of the state’s voters cast early or absentee ballots, according to the Tennessee Division of Elections.
Maury County is one of about a dozen counties where early turnout has outpaced 2018, the last time Tennessee had an open governor’s race. Early voting here ran about 1.2% ahead of that year. Several other counties around Nashville saw similar bumps, including Sumner (up 4%), Dickson (up 2.7%), Wilson (up 2.5%) and Rutherford (up 2%).
Statewide, the picture is more mixed. Early turnout is up 45% from 2022, when Gov. Bill Lee was reelected, but still about 7% below 2018. Twenty-two rural counties have seen at least 20% fewer early ballots than in 2018. In the state’s three largest counties, Davidson, Shelby and Knox, about 31% of registered voters have already participated, though each is behind its 2018 pace. You can see the county-by-county numbers in the state’s early voting turnout report.
If you haven’t voted yet, here’s what’s on the local ballot. Depending on where you live, Maury County voters will see races for:
Tennessee House District 64
Tennessee House District 71
Columbia City Mayor
Columbia Vice Mayor
Mount Pleasant Commission
The Maury County Candidate Guide includes information on each candidate and their plans for Columbia, Mount Pleasant and Maury County. View the guide online here. You can also look over a Maury County sample ballot before you go.
Polls in Maury County are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. To find where you vote, check the list of Maury County polling places and precincts. The state’s GoVoteTN lookup can also show your polling location, your personal sample ballot and who currently represents you.
Don’t forget your photo ID. Tennessee voters must show valid photo identification at the polls. A driver’s license or photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, by Tennessee state government or by the federal government is accepted, even if it’s expired. College student IDs are not accepted. Read more about voter ID requirements.
