Columbia Native Brings His Paul McCartney Tribute Show to The Mulehouse

A performer who grew up in Columbia and now tours as Paul McCartney in multiple Beatles tribute groups is bringing his own McCartney show back to his hometown.

Miles Frizzell fronts McCartney Forever, a Nashville-based band built around McCartney’s catalog, from The Beatles to Wings to his solo work. Frizzell has played Paul in acts including the Emmy-winning show The Fab Four, 1964 The Tribute, the Bootleg Beatles and Forever Abbey Road, and the band’s materials note that “Miles has been called one of the best McCartney impersonators in the world.”

His path to the role started at home. Frizzell comes from a family of Beatles fans, but the music really clicked for him at 12, when he rediscovered “Strawberry Fields.” Not long after, he picked up a guitar and decided to learn it left-handed, the way Paul plays, even though people around him told him he’d never manage it or questioned why he’d learn the “wrong” way. He stuck with it and began performing professionally at 17.

Music also runs in the family. Frizzell is the great-nephew of country singer-songwriter Lefty Frizzell, whose influence reached artists like Elvis Presley, the Everly Brothers and Merle Haggard, who in turn helped inspire The Beatles.

McCartney Forever was co-founded by Nashville music industry veteran John Salaway, who toured with Wings guitarist Denny Laine and worked with Beatles studio engineer Geoff Emerick. The rest of the lineup is made up of young touring musicians from Nashville, and according to the band, the show is “already a fan favorite” at Abbey Road on the River, a Beatles festival it describes as the biggest in the country.

If you want a preview, Frizzell’s Instagram and Facebook pages are full of performance videos and the resemblance to a young Paul is hard to miss. You can also watch clips of McCartney Forever on YouTube.

McCartney Forever plays The Mulehouse, 812 S. High St. in Columbia, on Friday, Oct. 30. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Stand Where History Unfolded: Special Spring Hill Battlefield Tour Set for Nov. 29

From The Battle of Franklin Trust’s post…

On the afternoon of November 29, 1864, Confederate Gen. John Bell Hood led his army up the Rally Hill Pike with the hope of cutting off the Federal Army at Spring Hill. That morning, Gen. John Schofield had sent George Wagner's Division north to form a perimeter around the eastern edge of the town. One of the most confounding events of the American Civil War was about to unfold across this rural farmland.

Join Eric Jacobson on Sunday, November 29, at 2 p.m. for a special anniversary tour of Rippa Villa and the Spring Hill Battlefield. Walk across the fields and stand inside the home at the very time of day when destiny was unfolding 162 years ago. The tour will last approximately 90 minutes. Tickets are $30 and include a copy of Volume 1 of Eric's new book, The Cheairs Family & Rippa Villa: The Old Union. Attendance is limited to 25, and participants must be 10 years of age or older.

Tickets must be pre purchased online. Find them here.
