Columbia Kicks Off No Trash November With Saturday Cleanup Event

The City of Columbia is pleased to announce the return of its Clean Up Columbia campaign in recognition of No Trash November. The monthlong initiative encourages community involvement, litter prevention, and creative activities that promote a cleaner Columbia.

“We are thrilled to bring the community together to participate in No Trash November,” said Mayor Chaz Molder. “The Clean Up Columbia campaign reflects the importance of teamwork and education in keeping our city clean. We encourage everyone to join us in reducing litter, protecting our environment, and taking pride in the community we call home.”

As part of the campaign, the City is partnering with local litter prevention organizations Keep Maury Beautiful and the Triple C’s (Columbia Community Clean-Up Team) to host a community cleanup event in East Columbia. Residents are invited to volunteer and help remove litter from local streets and public spaces.

East Columbia Cleanup
Date: Saturday, November 7, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Meet-Up Location: Parking lot at the corner of East 7th Street and Woodland Street

All necessary litter cleanup supplies will be provided. Residents of all ages are encouraged to participate and help make a positive impact on their community.

In addition to the cleanup event, the City is partnering with Maury County Public Schools to present the No Trash November Art Exhibit on display at Columbia City Hall from November 1–30. The exhibit features artwork created by local students using recycled and repurposed materials, showcasing their creativity while highlighting the importance of reducing waste and giving discarded materials new life.

Through volunteer service and creative expression, the Clean Up Columbia campaign aims to inspire residents to take an active role in keeping their community clean. By working together, residents can help reduce litter, protect local waterways and green spaces, and foster a lasting sense of pride in Columbia.

Spring Hill Citizens' Police Academy Offers Hands-On Look at Law Enforcement

From Spring Hill Police Department’s post…

Now accepting applications for the Citizens' Police Academy

We will be hosting the Citizen’s Police Academy from January 2027 through March 2027! Classes will be held on Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Our comprehensive program provides students with a well-rounded understanding of the various aspects of police work and operations. Although certain subjects are taught through traditional classroom lectures, our approach emphasizes providing students with practical, hands-on learning experiences. This blended approach allows students to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

While each CPA session has a slightly different focus, the curriculum covers a diverse range of law enforcement-related topics. Examples include:

• Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)
• Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
• Criminal Investigations
• Active Shooter response
• Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC)
• Firearms training and safety

The Citizens' Police Academy is open to all individuals 21 years of age or older and reside or work within the municipal city limits of Spring Hill. People may apply outside of the municipal city limits; however, precedence will be given to those within the municipal city limits.

Making friends as an adult is weirdly hard. Maybe this will help…
